Fruli Strawberry Beer

Fruli Strawberry Beer, a curious offering from Belgian brewery Fruli, poured a creamy pink hue into the glass, topped with a weak white head propped by little observable carbonation.  Aromas of strawberry and sugar were immediately detectable… a strange blend of “real” strawberry notes and artificial, hard candy fruit.

Fruli Strawberry Beer opened with a thick, chewy strawberry smoothie-like start.  The ale maintained an almost pure sugared strawberry profile until the end, where lager-like yeast and malts broke through.  The beer was sweet enough that the smaller bottle size (8.4 oz) was about perfect.  Essentially one-dimensional and a novelty, Fruli Strawberry Beer made a fun summer sipper.
