Sudwerk Märzen Premium Lager

Sudwerk Märzen Lager, from Sudwerk Davis, poured an amber hue into the glass with no observable carbonation and a thin, off-white head.  A bready malt and lager yeast nose was supported by a light, lemon citrus undertone.

Sudwerk Märzen Lager opened with mild minerality and a hint of lemon before settling into a big, baked wheat bread middle that stretched into a long, dry fade.

Sudwerk Märzen is a nicely put together lager that is firmly planted in the traditional märzen-style, with a slightly more complex hop profile pushing it out a little further than most.

Sudwerk Pilsner Premium Lager

Sudwerk Pilsner Premium Lager poured a bright, crystal clear yellow into the glass with a thin white head and vigorous carbonation.  A grassy nose gave the lager a more hop forward and wheaty aroma than I have come to expect from a pilsner.

Sudwerk Pilsner Premium Lager opened with a highly carbonated start accented by citrus and a wheaty malt backbone.  The lager managed to be dry but without ever becoming malt heavy.  A heavy minerality that sat in the background shone through and cleaned up in the finish.

Sudwerk Pilsner Premium Lager is more complex than many of the imports I have tried, but still light and session worthy.
