I’m pretty sure I picked up a this bottle from Batemans Brewing in the UK because it was on sale at the co-op as a way of adding some international flavor to the tastings, but Batemans XXB Classic Premium Pale Ale seems the perfect candidate for a lighter ABV slide into the evening.
Batemans XXB Classic Premium Pale Ale poured a slightly clouded copper-red, with light carbonation trailing to a thin white head. Wheat and biscuit dominated the nose with an underlying herbal support.
Batemans XXB Classic Premium Pale Ale opened with a mild, peppery hop start that almost immediately mellowed into a smooth, malt biscuit middle. Slight hints of grape came through in the fade, but the ale stayed warm and bready throughout.
