Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait Soft Lambic
Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait, a soft lambic blend of the best barrels from Belgian brewery Boon Brewing aged at least two years in oak, poured a glowing golden color into the glass, with heavy carbonation feeding to a heavy, tenacious foam cap. The nose immediately brought to mind sour apples, lemon, lime, vinegar, and wet straw.
Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait Lambic opened with a rich, orchard fruit sourness over cider vinegar tartness. As the ale settled, musty, woody flavors surfaced, betraying the age of some of the older vintages used, and wheat and wine grapes came through and worked well along side the soft, rising grassy funk finish.
Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait Lambic is an interesting and somewhat challenging dive into the old-world style lambics, where fresh and vibrant flavors coexist with older, slightly funkier ones.
