Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale

Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale, a summer seasonal from Idaho-based Laughing Dog Brewing, poured a dull, pale pumpkin-flesh hue with medium carbonation capped with a small white head.  The nose led with blueberry and huckleberry notes and lesser aromas of light green apple peel and soft vanilla.

Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale opened with a crisp, green apple start before the ale settled and the sweet, soft huckleberry comes in.  Creamy vanilla sweetened and thickened up the ale, and it ended on a cream soda fade.

Laughing Dog Huckleberry Cream Ale is an interesting fruit ale, more thought out than most fruit beers, and was a pleasant, low-alcohol sipper after a hot day outside.  I don’t know that I would need more than the one I had, but another tempting option to lure in people not normally inclined to drink a beer to the dark side.
