Sweetwater Brewing Co.’s Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale poured light amber out of the tap with a moderate white head. The nose was light and piny, with hints of citrus.
Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale opened with a moderate pine/citrus hop start that sweetened as the malts came in to play. There was a slightly soapy aftertaste (maybe the glass, but doubtful) that threw off the fade.
Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale manages to hit all the points needed to be considered a pale ale without doing anything exceptional. That said, given the typical tap selection in Nashville, it wasn’t long before I’d ordered a second pint.
