Mt. Shasta Weed Lemurian Golden Ale

Mt. Shasta Weed Lemurian Golden Ale , brewed by the Mt. Shasta Brewing Company, poured a highly carbonated, clear golden yellow into the glass with a short lived, sticky white head.  The nose was led by a big, sweet grassy aroma with some sweet grape notes.

Mt. Shasta Weed Lemurian Golden Ale opened with a bright and bitter start before mellowing into a funky, dry grain malt middle with a strong yeast presence.  Unfortunately, as the ale faded the bitterness came back, resulting in an astringent and medicinal linger.

Mt. Shasta Weed Lemurian Golden Ale has an eccentric story behind the name that ties it to local legend, the Lemurian legend of Mount Shasta, but the nasty, medicinal bitterness carried by the ale makes me only hope I had a skunked bottle or a bottle that wasn't properly cleaned.
