Not available in retail stores, this is a one-time special brew from a local brewer to ring in the Spring, Nick’s April Strong Ale, served at a party last night.
Nick’s April Strong Ale poured pitch black in the mug with a creamy brown cloud that took minutes to settle to the top of the tan head. The nose was herby and supported by a mellow coffee backbone.
Nick’s April Strong Ale drank surprisingly fresh, full of carbonation and mineral notes, before thickening up into a milky body of basil, thyme, and lightly roasted malts. The ale stayed thick and chewy in its long linger, sweetening up a bit against the grassy taste of the hops.
Was this the brew Served on 4/20 ?
ReplyDeleteLol... yes, but I think you might be reading too much into the "herbal" and "grassy" notes. :)
