Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Style Brown Ale

Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Style Brown Ale poured the color of dark black tea; transparent and lightly carbonated with a thick, yellow head.  The nose was dominated by a concerning sour apple and funky, off malt flavor.

Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Style Brown Ale opened with a surprisingly sweet and creamy start.  The sweetness took on a cloyingness as it settled into an overly estery middle with some banana and apple.  The flavor didn’t change much in the fade, but the ale left a sticky feeling in the mouth.

I want to assume something was wrong with the Alexander Keith’s Nova Scotia Style Brown Ale I tasted, but most of the off-flavors I tasted and smelt seem to indicate a poor brewing process rather than being light-struck or old.  Gross.
