Chatoe Rogue First Growth Single Malt Ale and Whiskey
I already wrote up my tasting notes for Chatoe Rogue First Growth Single Malt Ale, but had the unique opportunity to try a bottle alongside Rogue Spirit's Chatoe Rogue Oregon Single Malt Whiskey. Seeing as the two use the same "Risk" malt, they seemed primed for a head-to-head. Much like the Single Malt Ale's similarity to a dry, Irish ale, Oregon Single Malt Whiskey had more in common with a single malt Scotch than most commercial whiskeys one finds in the US. Banana and barnyard funk seem to define the Single Malt Whiskey, evoking the peatiness (if not the smokiness) of Scotland exports.
