Weyerbacher Unfiltered Double Simcoe IPA

Weyerbacher Unfiltered Double Simcoe IPA, a year-round brew from Weyebacher, poured a red-orange into the glass with slight clouding topped with a dense, white head.  The nose was big and hoppy, with tropical fruits and pineapple competing with a dry cereal backbone.

Weyerbacher Double Simcoe IPA opened on the palette with bitter and fruity hops overriding what would have been a surprisingly sweet caramel malt.  Fruity esters came in as the bitterness mellowed and gave the hop profile the typical pine and vegetal qualities associated with Simcoe hops.  The high ABV never played into the tasting of the beer, and it ended on a dry and woody fade.
