Lakefront Rendezvous Biere de Garde French-style Ale

I still have a backlog US made beers, but I’ll keep it multi-cultural with Lakefront Rendezvous Biere de Garde French-Style Ale, Lakefront Brewery’s take on the classic French house ale.

Right out of the gate, Lakefront Rendezvous Biere de Garde French-style Ale expressed a huge, fragrant nose of grassy notes and an uncharacteristically subdued farmhouse yeast note as soon as the cap was removed.  The ale was a dark amber color wotj moderate carbonation and a thick, frothy head.

Lakefront Rendezvous Biere de Garde French-style Ale drank surprisingly thick and creamy considering its transparency and color, with biscuits and bread dough dominating the body under only the slightest support of hops.  Grass and yeast funk pulled forward as the ale faded.

Lakefront Rendezvous Biere de Garde French-style Ale was an interesting take on the French-style house ale.  It doesn’t have the grassy big yeast taste most have, but it also doesn’t have the hop aggressiveness associated with US beers.  It’s good and hides the alcohol well, but it doesn’t stand out either within the style or on its own.
